Go North East guarantees to get you home
Go North East has responded to bus delays caused by heavy traffic on some of its routes by offering passengers a guarantee to get them to their home bus stop – no matter how busy the roads.
The ‘Get You Home’ guarantee starts on Monday, July 28 for passengers making certain connections at Stanley or Consett bus stations after travelling on Diamond services from Durham or Newcastle or Red Kite or West Durham Swift services from Newcastle
The scheme has been set up in partnership with Stanley Taxis and Go North East pledge to supply and pay for a taxi from Stanley or Consett bus stations if delays caused by traffic congestion mean a passenger will miss their connecting service.
Bus drivers will simply radio ahead to book a taxi if traffic congestion causes a delay to their scheduled arrival time.
As long as passengers have a valid BuzzFare or txt2go ticket for the entire journey, there is no extra charge for the service which is being introduced to help improve journey reliability on some of the busiest roads in the region.
Commercial Director with Go North East, Martin Harris said, “We know from talking to our passengers that reliability is an important factor when people consider travelling by bus, but sometimes the cause of a delay is outside our control. By piloting this ‘Get You Home’ guarantee we aim to boost passenger confidence in these services.”
The service operates between 5pm and 7.15pm on Monday to Friday on services 711 or MC1 leaving Stanley bus station between 5pm and 7.15pm or, from Consett bus station, services V1 and V2 to Delves Lane or Lime service 8 to The Grove, Moorside or Castleside.
